Certified translations

A certified (also called sworn) translation is done by a translator/interpreter appointed by one of the regional courts in the Czech Republic and registered in the list of court appointed experts and translators. The translator attaches a special translator’s clause to the translation.

The translation is attached to the original document and completed with a translator’s declaration (clause) that the translation is authentic. It includes a round stamp (the translator’s seal) and the translator’s signature. This type of translation is also referred to as “official”, “sworn” or “translation with a round stamp”.

The translation has to be attached to the either the original document or a certified copy. We will be happy to assist you in this process.

The most frequent documents translated as certified translations include:

  • birth certificates, wedding certificates, death certificates, last wills and testaments
  • extracts from the Commercial and Trade Registers, trade licenses
  • school reports and certificates, diplomas, student certificates
  • copies of criminal records, tax clearance certificates
  • Land Registry certificates, lease contracts
  • deeds, Memoranda of Association, articles of partnership, employment contracts
  • tax returns, tax registration certificates
  • judgments and many others

If required, we will help you obtain a certified copy of your document or arrange for an apostille. Certified translations can be delivered in any required number of copies.

The document to be translated can be delivered personally to our Prague address or sent by mail; when ready, the translation will be sent back cash on delivery.
